Subject Two
Subject Two
Subject Two is a 2006 American independent horror film directed by Philip Chidel. The film stars Christian Oliver and Dean Stapleton. It is a modern reimagining of the classic Frankenstein story, set in the remote mountains of Colorado.
Plot[edit | edit source]
The film follows a medical student named Adam Schmidt (Christian Oliver), who is disillusioned with his studies and life. He receives an email from Dr. Franklin Vick (Dean Stapleton), a reclusive scientist who invites him to his isolated cabin in the mountains. Dr. Vick is conducting experiments on reanimation and has successfully brought himself back to life multiple times. Adam becomes Subject Two, the second human test subject for Dr. Vick's experiments.
As the experiments progress, Adam experiences the physical and psychological effects of repeated death and resurrection. The film explores themes of mortality, ethics in medical research, and the consequences of playing God.
Cast[edit | edit source]
- Christian Oliver as Adam Schmidt
- Dean Stapleton as Dr. Franklin Vick
- Courtney Mace as Eve
- Thomas Buesch as The Hunter
Production[edit | edit source]
Subject Two was filmed on location in the snowy mountains of Colorado, providing a stark and isolated backdrop that enhances the film's eerie atmosphere. The film's low budget necessitated a small cast and crew, which contributed to its intimate and claustrophobic feel.
Reception[edit | edit source]
The film received mixed reviews from critics. Some praised its unique take on the Frankenstein mythos and its atmospheric setting, while others criticized its slow pacing and lack of character development. Despite this, Subject Two has gained a cult following among fans of independent horror films.
