Supermac's[edit | edit source]

Supermac's is a popular fast food restaurant chain based in Ireland. Founded in 1978 by Pat McDonagh, it has grown to become one of the largest fast food chains in the country, with over 100 outlets across Ireland and Northern Ireland.

History[edit | edit source]

Pat McDonagh founded Supermac's in 1978 in Ballinasloe, County Galway. The name "Supermac's" was inspired by McDonagh's nickname during his time as a teacher. The first restaurant was a success, and the company began to expand across Ireland in the following years.

Menu[edit | edit source]

Supermac's menu primarily consists of fast food staples such as burgers, fries, and chicken. However, it also includes unique items like the Mighty Mac, a burger with two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun. The chain also offers a range of pizzas, wraps, and salads.

Expansion[edit | edit source]

In recent years, Supermac's has expanded beyond Ireland, opening outlets in Northern Ireland and the UK. The company has also expressed interest in expanding to other European countries and the United States.

Controversies[edit | edit source]

Supermac's has been involved in a number of controversies over the years. In 2019, the company won a long-running legal battle with McDonald's over the use of the "Big Mac" trademark in Europe.
