The supraorbital vein originates from the forehead and scalp region. It runs along with the supraorbital artery and supraorbital nerve through the supraorbital notch. It then drains into the superior ophthalmic vein.

The primary function of the supraorbital vein is to drain blood from the forehead and scalp region. It works in conjunction with the facial vein and the angular vein to ensure proper blood flow in the face and forehead region.

For instance, it can be involved in cavernous sinus thrombosis, a condition where a blood clot forms in the cavernous sinus, a large vein at the base of the brain. This condition can lead to symptoms such as headache, eye pain, and vision problems.
