Surge (drink)

Surge is a citrus-flavored soft drink that was first produced by The Coca-Cola Company in the 1990s to compete with Pepsi's Mountain Dew. The drink was advertised as having a more "hardcore" edge, much like Mountain Dew's advertising at the time, in an attempt to lure customers away from Pepsi.

Surge was first introduced in Norway as Urge in 1996, and it was so popular that it was later released in the United States as Surge in 1997. The product was marketed using the slogan "Feed the Rush", which referred to the high sugar content in the drink. Despite its initial success, Surge's sales slowly declined, and by 2003, The Coca-Cola Company decided to discontinue the product.
Reintroduction[edit | edit source]
In 2014, The Coca-Cola Company announced that it would be bringing back Surge due to popular demand. The company launched a campaign on Amazon, where customers could buy a 12-pack of Surge for $14. The campaign was a success, and Surge was eventually reintroduced in convenience stores.

Surge is known for its unique citrus flavor. The main ingredients in Surge include carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, maltodextrin, concentrated orange juice, and a variety of natural flavors.

The reception to Surge has been mixed. While some consumers have praised the drink for its unique taste and nostalgic value, others have criticized it for its high sugar content and artificial ingredients.
