From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Té Company is a tea company based in New York City, United States. It was founded by Elena Liao and Frederico Ribeiro in 2012. The company is known for its focus on Oolong tea, a type of tea that is partially fermented and is a traditional staple of Taiwanese cuisine.

History[edit | edit source]

Elena Liao, a native of Taiwan, started Té Company with the aim of introducing high-quality Taiwanese oolong tea to the American market. She was joined by her partner, Frederico Ribeiro, a former pastry chef at the Michelin-starred restaurant, Per Se. The company initially operated as an online store before opening a brick-and-mortar location in New York City's West Village in 2015.

Products[edit | edit source]

Té Company offers a variety of oolong teas sourced directly from tea farmers in Taiwan. The selection includes traditional varieties like Dong Ding and Alishan, as well as rare and limited edition teas. In addition to tea, the company also sells tea ware and accessories, including teapots and tea cups.

At their West Village location, Té Company serves a menu of light fare and pastries to accompany their teas. The food menu, created by Ribeiro, is inspired by Taiwanese and Portuguese cuisine, reflecting the founders' respective heritages.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Té Company has been well received by both customers and critics. It has been praised for its high-quality teas and its cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The company has also been recognized for its educational approach to tea, offering detailed information about the teas' origins, flavor profiles, and brewing instructions.
