Plot[edit | edit source]

The film begins with a performance of Pina Bausch's dance piece Café Müller. In the audience are Benigno Martín, a male nurse, and Marco Zuluaga, a travel writer. The two men do not know each other, but their lives will soon become intertwined.

Marco is in a relationship with Lydia González, a famous bullfighter who is also in a coma after being gored by a bull. As Benigno and Marco spend time at the hospital, they develop a deep friendship.
