- Taos County is a county in the U.S. state of New Mexico. As of the 2010 census, the population was 32,937. Its county seat is Taos. The county was formed in 1852 as one of the original nine counties in New Mexico Territory.
Geography[edit | edit source]
- Taos County is located in the northern part of New Mexico. It is bordered by Colorado to the north, Rio Arriba County to the west, Mora County and Colfax County to the east, and Santa Fe County to the south.

The racial makeup of the county was 63.4% White, 0.4% Black or African American, 6.2% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 24.6% from other races, and 5.0% from two or more races. 55.3% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

- Taos County is served by several public school districts, including the Taos Municipal School District, Questa Independent Schools, and Peñasco Independent Schools. The county is also home to University of New Mexico-Taos, a branch of the University of New Mexico.
