Tarzana is a neighborhood located in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, California, United States. It is named after the fictional character Tarzan.

Tarzana was originally part of the Rancho El Encino land grant, which was given to three Mission Indians by the Spanish government in 1797. In 1909, the land was purchased by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the author of the Tarzan novels, who then named the area Tarzana Ranch. The neighborhood was later developed in the 1920s and became a popular residential area.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Tarzana is located in the southwestern part of the San Fernando Valley, bordered by Woodland Hills to the west, Encino to the east, Reseda to the north, and the Santa Monica Mountains to the south. The neighborhood covers an area of approximately X square miles.

As of the 2010 census, Tarzana had a population of X. The neighborhood is known for its diverse population, with a mix of different ethnicities and cultures.

Tarzana is served by the Los Angeles Unified School District. The neighborhood has several public and private schools, including Tarzana Elementary School, Gaspar de Portola Middle School, and William Howard Taft Charter High School.
