Tarzana is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, California. It is named after Tarzan, a fictional character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs, who once owned the land that now comprises the community.

The area now known as Tarzana was originally part of the San Fernando Mission established in 1797. In the early 20th century, the land was purchased by Edgar Rice Burroughs, who named it after his famous character, Tarzan. The community was officially founded in 1927.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Tarzana is located in the southwestern part of the San Fernando Valley. It is bordered by Reseda to the north, Encino to the east, Woodland Hills to the west, and the Santa Monica Mountains to the south.

As of the 2000 census, Tarzana had a population of approximately 35,000 residents. The neighborhood is known for its diverse community and suburban feel.
