Tastee-Freez
Tastee-Freez is an American brand of soft serve ice cream that was established in 1950. The brand is known for its variety of flavors and toppings, and for its iconic cone-shaped logo. Tastee-Freez operates as a franchise, with locations across the United States.
History[edit | edit source]
Tastee-Freez was founded by Leo S. Moranz and Harry Axene in 1950. The two entrepreneurs developed a soft serve formula and a machine to dispense it, which they named the "Freez King." The first Tastee-Freez store was opened in Keithsburg, Illinois, and the brand quickly expanded through franchising.
In the 1960s and 1970s, Tastee-Freez became a cultural icon, with its products featured in popular songs and television shows. The brand was also known for its advertising campaigns, which often featured celebrities.
In 2007, Tastee-Freez was acquired by Galanis Family Brands, which also owns the Wienerschnitzel hot dog chain. Today, many Tastee-Freez locations are co-branded with Wienerschnitzel.
Products[edit | edit source]
Tastee-Freez's menu includes a variety of soft serve ice cream products, including cones, sundaes, and shakes. The brand is also known for its "Freezee" drinks, which are blended ice cream beverages.
In addition to ice cream, some Tastee-Freez locations also serve hot food items, such as hot dogs and hamburgers. These locations are typically co-branded with Wienerschnitzel.
