Tazmania

Tazmania is an island located to the south of the Australian mainland, separated by the Bass Strait. It is the 26th-largest island in the world and covers an area of around 68,401 sq km. The island is known for its unique wildlife and beautiful landscapes, including the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, which covers approximately 20% of Tasmania's land area.

The first known inhabitants of Tasmania were the Aboriginal Tasmanians, who are believed to have arrived on the island at least 35,000 years ago. The island was first sighted by Europeans in 1642, when Dutch explorer Abel Tasman arrived. It was later named Van Diemen's Land by the British, who established a penal colony there in 1803. The island was renamed Tasmania in 1856, in honor of Abel Tasman.

Tasmania's geography is marked by the central highland plateau, mountains, and numerous rivers. The highest peak is Mount Ossa, standing at 1,617 meters. The island's climate varies from a cool temperate climate in the highlands to a temperate maritime climate along the coast.

Tasmania is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, much of which is unique to the island. This includes the Tasmanian Devil, the largest carnivorous marsupial in the world, and the Tasmanian Tiger or Thylacine, which is now considered extinct.
