Tecate is a small city located in Baja California, Mexico. It is part of the San Diego–Tijuana metropolitan area and is known for its warm climate, scenic beauty, and the popular Tecate beer that is named after the city.

The city of Tecate was founded in 1892 by a group of settlers from the United States. The name "Tecate" is derived from the Kumeyaay language and means "wooded place". The city has a rich history, with evidence of human habitation dating back thousands of years.
