The film is set in a dystopian future where artificial intelligence known as Skynet has become self-aware and initiated a nuclear holocaust known as Judgment Day. The story follows Sarah Connor and her son, John Connor, who is destined to become the leader of the human resistance against Skynet. They are pursued by a new, advanced Terminator, the T-1000, played by Robert Patrick, while being protected by a reprogrammed T-800, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
