The Tetley brothers, Joseph and Edward, started their business in Huddersfield in 1837. They initially sold salt from a pack horse, before moving into the tea business. The company expanded in the 1850s and 1860s, establishing a presence in London and Sydney, Australia. In 1952, Tetley introduced the first tea bag in the United Kingdom, revolutionizing the way tea was consumed.
