The Hanging Gale is a historical drama television series produced by the BBC in 1995. The series is set during the Great Famine in Ireland and follows the struggles of the Phelan family as they cope with the devastating effects of the famine.

The series centers on the Phelan family, who are tenant farmers in County Donegal. The family consists of four brothers: Daniel, Sean, Conor, and Liam.
