Thrombolytics

Thrombolytics are a type of drug used to dissolve blood clots in blood vessels. They are used in the treatment of conditions such as myocardial infarction (heart attack), ischemic stroke, and pulmonary embolism.

Mechanism of Action

Thrombolytics work by activating the enzyme plasminogen, which is converted into plasmin. Plasmin then breaks down fibrin, a protein that forms the framework of blood clots.
