Derry was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas. She developed a passion for cooking at a young age, often helping her mother in the kitchen. She later attended the Art Institute of Houston, where she honed her culinary skills and developed a deep understanding of the culinary arts.

After graduating, Derry began her career at the Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, where she quickly rose through the ranks to become the youngest woman to hold a management position in the company. She later moved to Dallas, Texas, where she worked at several high-end restaurants, including the Go Fish Ocean Club.

Derry's big break came in 2010 when she appeared on the seventh season of Top Chef. Despite not winning the competition, she impressed the judges with her creativity and skill, and quickly became a fan favorite. She returned for the Top Chef: All-Stars season, where she finished in the top four.

Following her success on Top Chef, Derry has made numerous television appearances, including on Bar Rescue and Hungry Investors. She has also hosted her own cooking show, Tiffany Derry's Loft, and has been a guest judge on cooking competitions such as Top Chef Junior.

In addition to her television work, Derry is also a successful restaurateur. She has opened several restaurants, including Roots Chicken Shak in Plano, Texas, which specializes in duck fat-fried chicken.
