Tilquin

Tilquin is a renowned brewery located in Belgium, specifically in the Wallonia region. It is one of the few breweries in the world that specializes in the production of Gueuze, a type of lambic beer.

History[edit | edit source]

The Tilquin brewery was established in 2009 by Pierre Tilquin, who had previously worked at other notable breweries such as Cantillon and Drie Fonteinen. The brewery is unique in that it does not brew its own wort, but instead purchases wort from other breweries and ages it in their own barrels.

Production[edit | edit source]

Tilquin is known for its production of Gueuze, a blend of young and old lambic beers that undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle. The brewery also produces a variety of other lambic beers, including Kriek and Quetsche, both of which are made with fruit.

Recognition[edit | edit source]

Tilquin has gained international recognition for its high-quality beers. It is one of only nine members of the High Council for Artisanal Lambic Beers (HORAL), an organization that promotes traditional lambic brewing methods.
