Tine SA is a Norwegian cooperative that operates within the dairy industry. It is the largest producer, distributor, and exporter of dairy products in Norway. The company is owned by more than 11,000 farmers across the country.

Tine was established in 1928 as a cooperative dairy company. The company was initially known as the Norwegian Dairy Sales Association and later changed its name to Tine in 1992. The name Tine is derived from an old Norse word, which means a meeting at a fixed time.

Operations[edit | edit source]

Tine operates more than 30 production facilities across Norway. The company's product portfolio includes milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, and other dairy products. Tine's most famous product is the traditional Norwegian brown cheese, known as Brunost.

Tine also has a significant presence in the international market, exporting its products to over 20 countries worldwide. The company's international operations are managed by its subsidiary, Tine International.

Tine is governed by a board of directors, which is elected by the company's farmer-owners. The board is responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of the company. The day-to-day operations of Tine are managed by the CEO and the executive management team.
