Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
De Lange was born in the Netherlands and developed an early interest in science. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the University of Utrecht and went on to pursue her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the same institution.
Career[edit | edit source]
After completing her Ph.D., de Lange moved to the United States to further her research career. She joined The Rockefeller University as a postdoctoral fellow and quickly rose through the ranks to become a leading authority in the field of telomere biology.
De Lange's research focuses on understanding the role of telomeres in maintaining genome stability and how their dysfunction contributes to aging and cancer. Her work has led to numerous groundbreaking discoveries and has significantly advanced our understanding of these critical genomic elements.
In addition to her research, de Lange is a passionate advocate for science education and mentorship. She has trained and inspired countless young scientists who have gone on to make their own contributions to the field.
Awards and Recognition[edit | edit source]
De Lange's contributions to molecular biology have been widely recognized. She has received numerous awards and honors, including the prestigious Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences and election to the National Academy of Sciences.
