Todd Park

Todd Park is an American entrepreneur and technology executive who served as the United States Chief Technology Officer (CTO) from 2012 to 2014. He is known for his work in the healthcare technology sector and his role in promoting open data initiatives within the federal government.

Todd Park was born in 1973 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Harvard University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. During his time at Harvard, Park developed an interest in technology and entrepreneurship, which would later shape his career path.

Entrepreneurial Ventures[edit | edit source]

After graduating from Harvard, Park co-founded Athenahealth in 1997, a company that provides cloud-based services for healthcare providers. Under his leadership, Athenahealth grew rapidly and became a leading provider of electronic health records and practice management services.

In 2008, Park co-founded Castlight Health, a company focused on providing transparency in healthcare costs and quality. Castlight Health aimed to empower consumers with information to make informed healthcare decisions.

In 2009, Park was appointed as the Chief Technology Officer of the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) by Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. In this role, he was responsible for promoting innovation and technology adoption within the department. Park played a key role in launching the "Health Data Initiative," which aimed to make health data more accessible to the public and spur innovation in the healthcare sector.

In 2012, Park was appointed by President Barack Obama as the United States Chief Technology Officer. As CTO, Park focused on initiatives to improve government efficiency through technology, promote open data, and foster innovation across federal agencies. He was instrumental in the development of the "Presidential Innovation Fellows" program, which brought private sector innovators into government to work on high-impact projects.

He co-founded Devoted Health, a company focused on providing healthcare services to seniors.
