Tomas Young

Tomas Young was an American military veteran known for his activism against the Iraq War. Born on November 30, 1979, in Kansas City, Missouri, Young enlisted in the United States Army shortly after the September 11, 2001 attacks. He was deployed to Iraq in 2004 as part of the 1st Cavalry Division.

During his deployment, Young's unit was ambushed in Baghdad, resulting in him being shot and paralyzed from the chest down. This life-altering event led him to become a vocal critic of the war and the administration that initiated it.

Young's story gained national attention when he was featured in the 2007 documentary film Body of War, which chronicled his struggles and activism. He became a prominent advocate for veterans' rights and a vocal opponent of U.S. foreign policy.

In 2013, Tomas Young passed away at the age of 34 due to complications from his injuries sustained in Iraq. His legacy continues to inspire others to question the impacts of war and advocate for peace.
