Towns County is a county located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 10,471. Its county seat is Hiawassee. The county was created on March 6, 1856 and named for George Washington Towns, who was the governor of Georgia from 1847 to 1851.
