Tumor of the stomach
Tumor of the Stomach is a type of cancer that originates from the cells in the lining of the stomach, also known as gastric cancer. The exact cause of stomach tumors is not known, but certain factors increase the risk, including certain types of food and drink, smoking, certain medical conditions, and certain inherited conditions.
Causes[edit | edit source]
The exact cause of stomach tumors is not known, but certain factors increase the risk. These include:
- Diet: Consuming a diet high in smoked, pickled, or salty foods increases the risk of stomach cancer. Consuming a diet low in fruits and vegetables can also increase risk.

- Certain medical conditions: Conditions that increase the risk of stomach cancer include chronic gastritis, Helicobacter pylori infection, pernicious anemia, and stomach polyps.
- Certain inherited conditions: Certain genetic syndromes passed through families increase the risk of stomach cancer. These include Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer syndrome, Lynch syndrome, and certain types of familial adenomatous polyposis.
Symptoms[edit | edit source]
Symptoms of stomach tumors can vary, but may include:
- Poor appetite
- Weight loss without trying

Diagnosis[edit | edit source]
Diagnosis of stomach tumors typically involves a physical exam, review of the patient's medical history, and diagnostic tests. These tests may include endoscopy, biopsy, blood tests, imaging tests, and laparoscopy.
Treatment[edit | edit source]
Treatment for stomach tumors depends on the stage of the cancer, the patient's overall health, and personal preferences. Treatment options may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy.
