  • Turners Falls is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Montague, Massachusetts, United States. Named after Captain William Turner, who played a key role in the region's history, the city is part of the Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area.

  • Turners Falls was founded in 1868 as a planned industrial community designed to attract workers to its paper mills. The city is named after Captain William Turner, who led colonial soldiers in the 1676 Battle of Turner's Falls, a significant event in the King Philip's War.

Geography[edit | edit source]

  • Turners Falls is located at 42°36′35″N 72°33′31″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 km²), of which 2.0 square miles (5.2 km²) is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 km²) (13.11%) is water.
