Under Armour
Under Armour, Inc. is an American sports equipment company that manufactures footwear, sports and casual apparel. Under Armour's global headquarters are located in Baltimore, Maryland, with additional offices located around the world. The company was founded in 1996 by Kevin Plank, a then 24-year-old former special teams captain of the University of Maryland football team. Plank initially began the business from his grandmother's basement in Washington, D.C. He spent his time traveling along the East Coast with nothing but apparel in the trunk of his car. His first team sale came at the end of 1996.

Under Armour started with the simple plan to make a superior T-shirt. A shirt that provided compression and wicked perspiration off your skin rather than absorb it. A shirt that worked with your body to regulate temperature and enhance performance. Founded by Kevin Plank, a former University of Maryland football player, Under Armour began with the idea to create a t-shirt that would help athletes improve their performance by managing sweat and body temperature. The company's first product was a moisture-wicking t-shirt made from microfiber fabric that kept athletes cool, dry, and light in the most brutally hot conditions.

Under Armour produces a wide range of sports and casual wear, but it is perhaps best known for its performance gear, which includes shirts, pants, shorts, footwear, and accessories designed for a variety of sports and activities. The company has also expanded into the technology sector, developing fitness apps and wearables.

Under Armour entered the footwear market in 2006 with the introduction of its first football cleat. Since then, the company has expanded its footwear offerings to include running shoes, basketball shoes, and training shoes, among others.

In recent years, Under Armour has invested heavily in technology to enhance athletic performance. This includes the development of fitness apps, such as UA Record, and the acquisition of MapMyFitness, MyFitnessPal, and Endomondo.
