The Union Oyster House is a historic restaurant located in Boston, Massachusetts. It is recognized as the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the United States.

The Union Oyster House was established in 1826. The building itself, however, dates back to the early 18th century. It has been a designated National Historic Landmark since 2003.

The Union Oyster House is located on the Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile-long path through downtown Boston that passes by 16 locations significant to the history of the United States.

The Union Oyster House is renowned for its seafood, particularly its oysters. The restaurant also serves a variety of other dishes, including clam chowder, lobster, and steak.

Notable Patrons[edit | edit source]

Over the years, the Union Oyster House has been frequented by many notable individuals. These include Daniel Webster, a prominent 19th-century senator, and John F. Kennedy, who was known to have a particular booth he favored.
