United Nations Security Council Resolution 369
United Nations Security Council Resolution 369 was adopted on May 28, 1975, during the 1821st meeting of the United Nations Security Council. The resolution addressed the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
Background[edit | edit source]
The Middle East has been a region of significant geopolitical tension, particularly involving the Arab-Israeli conflict. The United Nations has been actively involved in efforts to mediate and resolve conflicts in the region.
Content of the Resolution[edit | edit source]
Resolution 369 called for the extension of the mandate of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) for an additional six months. The resolution emphasized the need for all parties to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 338, which called for a ceasefire and the start of negotiations aimed at establishing a just and durable peace in the Middle East.
Voting[edit | edit source]
The resolution was adopted unanimously by the members of the United Nations Security Council.
Significance[edit | edit source]
The extension of the UNDOF mandate was crucial for maintaining the ceasefire between Israel and Syria in the Golan Heights region. The presence of UNDOF has been a stabilizing factor in the area, helping to prevent the resumption of hostilities.
