The University of Antwerp (Dutch: Universiteit Antwerpen) is a major public university located in Antwerp, Belgium. Established in 2003 through the merger of three smaller institutions, it is known for its research and education in a wide range of disciplines.

The University of Antwerp was formed in 2003 by the merger of three institutions: the Rijksuniversitair Centrum Antwerpen (RUCA), the Universitaire Faculteiten Sint-Ignatius Antwerpen (UFSIA), and the Universitaire Instelling Antwerpen (UIA). These institutions had been collaborating since 1971 under the name "University of Antwerp Association".

Campuses[edit | edit source]

The university is spread across four campuses in Antwerp:

  • Stadscampus: Located in the city center, it houses the faculties of Arts, Law, and Social Sciences.
  • Campus Middelheim: Situated in the southern part of the city, it is home to the Faculty of Science.
  • Campus Drie Eiken: Located in Wilrijk, it hosts the faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences.
  • Campus Groenenborger: Also in Wilrijk, it accommodates the Faculty of Applied Engineering.
