University of Lagos (UNILAG) is a public university located in Lagos, Nigeria. It is one of Nigeria's five first-generation universities and was founded in 1962. The university has three campuses in Lagos, including its main campus at Akoka, a college of medicine at Idi-Araba, and a newly created campus at the former School of Radiography in Yaba. UNILAG is a comprehensive institution offering courses and degrees across a wide range of disciplines, including the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, medical sciences, and engineering.

The University of Lagos was established to provide manpower needs for the newly independent Nigeria. It was among the universities set up under the Nigerian government's rapid educational expansion programme. Since its inception, UNILAG has grown to become one of the most prestigious universities in Africa, known for its academic excellence and vibrant campus life.

The main campus in Akoka is predominantly for academic activities and houses the central administration units, most of the colleges, faculties, and institutes. The College of Medicine, which is part of the university, is located at Idi-Araba and is associated with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), which serves as a training and research center for medical and health sciences.
