University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is a public research university located in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. It was founded in 1957 as the Southern Division of the University of Nevada and became an independent institution in 1969. UNLV is known for its programs in hospitality management, law, engineering, and fine arts. The university is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity".
