The University of North Texas (UNT) is a public research university located in Denton, Texas. It is part of the University of North Texas System. Established in 1890, UNT is one of the largest universities in the state of Texas and offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs.

The University of North Texas was founded as the Texas Normal College and Teacher Training Institute in 1890. It underwent several name changes before becoming the University of North Texas in 1988.
