Uwajimaya
Uwajimaya is a family-owned supermarket chain that specializes in Asian food and products. It is headquartered in Seattle, Washington and has several locations in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Uwajimaya was founded in 1928 by Fujimatsu Moriguchi, a Japanese immigrant. The original store was a small shop in Tacoma, Washington, where Moriguchi sold fish cakes and other Japanese goods. During World War II, the Moriguchi family was interned along with other Japanese Americans, and the business was temporarily closed. After the war, the family reopened Uwajimaya in Seattle's International District.
