Vicente López Carril
Vicente López Carril (1942-1980) was a professional road cyclist from Spain. Born on July 2, 1942, in Pontevedra, López Carril was a prominent figure in the world of professional cycling during the 1960s and 1970s. He is best remembered for his achievements in the Vuelta a España, where he consistently showcased his prowess as a climber and stage racer.

López Carril's professional career began in the early 1960s, and he quickly established himself as a strong climber and capable all-rounder. His most notable achievements came in the Vuelta a España, where he secured several stage wins and high overall placements. In 1974, he achieved his best result in a Grand Tour, finishing second overall in the Vuelta a España, narrowly missing out on the victory.
Apart from his success in Spain, López Carril also competed in the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia, where he demonstrated his abilities against the international peloton.
