Vicks brands
Vicks is a brand of over-the-counter medications owned by the American company Procter & Gamble. Primarily known for its cough and cold products, the Vicks line extends to a variety of pharmaceutical and personal care items, including VapoRub, NyQuil, DayQuil, and Vicks Inhaler. These products are aimed at relieving symptoms associated with the common cold, flu, and respiratory allergies.
History[edit | edit source]
The Vicks brand has its origins in the late 19th century, when pharmacist Lunsford Richardson developed a salve designed to relieve the symptoms of croup and pneumonia, naming it Vicks Magic Croup Salve. In 1905, the product was renamed Vicks VapoRub, and its popularity grew rapidly. Over the decades, the Vicks product line expanded to include a wide range of cold and flu remedies.

The brand has faced its share of controversies, particularly concerning the safety and effectiveness of over-the-counter cough and cold medications in children. However, Vicks continues to be a leading brand in the pharmaceutical and personal care market.
