Ministry of Health (Vietnam)[edit | edit source]

The Ministry of Health (Vietnam) is a government ministry in Vietnam responsible for state administration on health. It oversees the health sector of the country, including preventive health, medical examination and treatment, rehabilitation, traditional medicine, and the management of health insurance.

The Ministry of Health was established on September 28, 1945, shortly after the declaration of independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. It has since undergone several structural and functional changes to adapt to the evolving health needs of the Vietnamese population.

Functions[edit | edit source]

The Ministry of Health is responsible for:

  • Formulating strategies, plans, and policies on health.
  • Implementing state management on health in the country and internationally.
  • Managing and guiding the implementation of health programs and projects.
  • Managing health activities of organizations and individuals in Vietnam and Vietnamese organizations and individuals abroad.

The Ministry of Health is composed of several departments, including the Department of Preventive Medicine, Department of Medical Examination and Treatment, Department of Traditional Medicine, and Department of Health Insurance.

Minister of Health[edit | edit source]

The current Minister of Health is Nguyen Thanh Long, who assumed office on November 12, 2020.
