Volga is a city in Brookings County, in the state of South Dakota, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,113.

Volga was platted in 1879. The city was named after the Volga River in Russia. A post office has been in operation in Volga since 1879.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Volga is located at 44°19′30″N 96°55′30″W / 44.32500°N 96.92500°W
. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.32 square miles (3.42 km²), all land.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the census of 2020, there were 2,113 people, 835 households, and 573 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,600.8 inhabitants per square mile (618.1/km²). There were 890 housing units at an average density of 674.2 per square mile (260.3/km²).
Education[edit | edit source]
Volga is served by the Sioux Valley School District. The district includes Sioux Valley Elementary School, Sioux Valley Middle School, and Sioux Valley High School.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of Volga is primarily based on agriculture, with many residents engaged in farming and related activities. The city also has a number of small businesses and services that cater to the local community.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
Volga is accessible via U.S. Route 14, which runs east-west through the city. The nearest major airport is Sioux Falls Regional Airport, located approximately 60 miles southeast of Volga.
