Voss (water)
Voss (water)
Voss (water) is a brand of bottled water from Norway. Named after the small community of Voss, the water is sourced from an underground aquifer in the untouched wilderness of Central Norway and is marketed as a high-end product in many countries.
History[edit | edit source]
Voss was established in 2000 by two childhood friends, Ole Christian Sandberg and Christopher Harlem. The pair sought to create a bottled water brand that was distinctly Norwegian, capturing the country's pristine natural environment. The brand quickly gained recognition for its distinctive cylindrical glass bottle, which was designed by Neil Kraft, a former creative director at Calvin Klein.
Source[edit | edit source]
Voss water is sourced from an artesian well in the village of Vatnestrøm in Iveland municipality, Aust-Agder county. The water is naturally filtered and purified through layers of rock and sand, which provide it with a clean, crisp taste. The water is not treated with any chemicals or additives, maintaining its natural purity.
Products[edit | edit source]
Voss offers a range of products, including still water, sparkling water, and flavored sparkling water. The brand's still water is available in both glass and plastic bottles, while its sparkling water is only available in glass bottles. The flavored sparkling water range includes flavors such as lemon cucumber, tangerine lemongrass, and strawberry ginger.
Distribution[edit | edit source]
Voss water is distributed in over 50 countries worldwide. It is particularly popular in the United States, where it is often found in high-end hotels, restaurants, and food stores. The brand has also made significant inroads in markets such as the United Kingdom, Australia, and China.
Environmental Impact[edit | edit source]
Voss has made efforts to reduce its environmental impact. The brand's glass bottles are 100% recyclable, and it has also introduced a range of plastic bottles made from recycled materials. In addition, Voss has partnered with the environmental organization Ocean Cleanup to help remove plastic waste from the world's oceans.
