Wals-Siezenheim
Wals-Siezenheim is a municipality located in the Salzburg-Umgebung District in the Austrian state of Salzburg. It is the largest municipality in the state of Salzburg and is divided into the following localities: Wals, Himmelreich, Käferheim, Klessheim, Gois, Viehhausen, Siezenheim, Liefering, and Rott.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Wals-Siezenheim is situated on the western border of Salzburg and is approximately 5 km from the city center. The municipality is surrounded by the Salzach river to the east and the Saalach river to the west. The Untersberg mountain, part of the Berchtesgaden Alps, is located to the south.
History[edit | edit source]
The area of Wals-Siezenheim has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. The first documented mention of the municipality dates back to the year 927. In 1947, the formerly independent municipalities of Wals and Siezenheim were merged to form the current municipality.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of Wals-Siezenheim is diverse, with a mix of agriculture, industry, and services. The municipality is home to several large companies, including Red Bull GmbH, which has its headquarters in the locality of Fuschl am See.

Wals-Siezenheim has a well-developed healthcare system with several medical facilities, including the Wals-Siezenheim Health Center. The center offers a range of medical services, including general medicine, pediatrics, and gynecology.

Wals-Siezenheim is known for its rich cultural heritage. The municipality hosts several cultural events throughout the year, including the annual Wals-Siezenheim Cultural Festival. The Klessheim Palace, a historic Baroque palace, is one of the main cultural attractions in the municipality.
