The Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC) is a state agency in Washington State responsible for advancing educational opportunities and attainment in the state. The council was established in 2012, replacing the former Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Mission[edit | edit source]

The mission of the Washington Student Achievement Council is to ensure that all Washingtonians have access to high-quality education and training opportunities that lead to meaningful careers and enriched lives. The council aims to increase educational attainment and close achievement gaps among different demographic groups.

Responsibilities[edit | edit source]

The WSAC has several key responsibilities, including:

  • Developing and implementing a strategic plan for higher education in Washington.
  • Administering state financial aid programs, such as the Washington College Grant.
  • Providing policy analysis and recommendations to the Washington State Legislature and the Governor of Washington.
