Wawa Inc. is a renowned American chain of convenience stores and gas stations located along the East Coast of the United States. The company's corporate headquarters is located in the Wawa area of Chester Heights, Pennsylvania in Greater Philadelphia.

Wawa was founded on April 16, 1964, by Grahame Wood. The first store was located in Folsom, Pennsylvania. The name "Wawa" is derived from the Ojibwe word for the Canada goose. The company logo is a goose in flight, which symbolizes the company's commitment to growth and progress.

Products and Services[edit | edit source]

Wawa offers a large fresh food service selection, including Wawa brands such as built-to-order hoagies, freshly brewed coffee, hot breakfast sandwiches, built-to-order Specialty Beverages, and an assortment of soups, sides and snacks. In addition to food services, Wawa also offers fuel services at their locations.

As of 2021, Wawa operates more than 850 stores in the United States, with over 600 offering gasoline. The states that have Wawa stores include Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Florida.

Community Involvement[edit | edit source]

Wawa is known for its involvement in the communities where its stores are located. The company's community support is channeled through The Wawa Foundation, which was established to encompass all of Wawa's charitable giving. The foundation focuses on three key areas: health, hunger, and everyday heroes.
