Weakley County, Tennessee is a county located in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 33,478. Its county seat is Dresden. The county was established in 1823 and named for Robert Weakley, a state legislator and U.S. Congressman.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 582 square miles (1,507 km²), of which 580 square miles (1,502 km²) is land and 2.1 square miles (5.4 km²) (0.4%) is water.

Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2020 United States Census, there were 33,478 people, 13,000 households, and 8,000 families residing in the county. The population density was 58 people per square mile (22/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 87.5% White, 8.5% Black or African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.8% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.2% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.5% of the population.

Weakley County is served by the Weakley County School District, which includes several elementary, middle, and high schools. The county is also home to University of Tennessee at Martin, a public university that is part of the University of Tennessee system.
