Wells & Young's Brewery was a brewing company based in Bedford, England. It was formed in October 2006 from the merger of the brewing operations of Charles Wells Ltd and Young & Co.'s Brewery. The company produced a range of beers, including cask ales, bottled beers, and keg beers.

The origins of Wells & Young's Brewery can be traced back to the 19th century. Charles Wells Ltd was founded in 1876 by Charles Wells, while Young & Co.'s Brewery was established in 1831 by Charles Young and Anthony Bainbridge. The merger in 2006 combined the strengths of both companies, creating one of the largest independent brewers in the UK.

Brewing Process[edit | edit source]

The brewery utilized traditional brewing methods combined with modern technology. The brewing process involved several key stages:

In 2017, Charles Wells Ltd sold its brewing and brands to Marston's Brewery. The sale included the Bedford brewery and the rights to brew and distribute the Wells & Young's brands. Despite the acquisition, the legacy of Wells & Young's Brewery continues through the ongoing production of its iconic beers.
