Wendy Thomas[edit | edit source]
Wendy Thomas is the namesake and mascot of the international fast food chain, Wendy's. Born as Melinda Lou "Wendy" Thomas, she is the fourth child of Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy's. The chain's logo, featuring a red-haired girl with pigtails, is based on her childhood image.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Wendy Thomas was born on September 14, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio. She is one of five children of Dave Thomas and his wife, Lorraine. Her father named the restaurant after her nickname, "Wendy", which she got due to her inability to pronounce her own name as a child.
Wendy's[edit | edit source]
Wendy's was founded by Dave Thomas in 1969 in Columbus, Ohio. The logo of the fast food chain, a smiling red-haired girl with pigtails, was inspired by a photo of Wendy when she was eight years old. Wendy has been involved with the company throughout her life. She appeared in several commercials for Wendy's in the 1980s and 1990s.
Career[edit | edit source]
Apart from her association with Wendy's, Wendy Thomas is a successful businesswoman. She owns several Wendy's franchises in the United States. She also appeared in the reality TV show The Profit in 2013, where she discussed her business strategies and the challenges she faced in running her franchises.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
