West Feliciana Parish, LA
West Feliciana Parish is a parish located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2020 census, the population was 15,310. The parish seat is St. Francisville. The parish was established in 1824 and is part of the Baton Rouge metropolitan area.

West Feliciana Parish was created in 1824 when Feliciana Parish was divided into East and West. The name "Feliciana" is derived from the Spanish word for "happy land." The area has a rich history, including significant events during the American Civil War.
Geography[edit | edit source]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the parish has a total area of 426 square miles, of which 403 square miles is land and 23 square miles is water. The parish is bordered by the Mississippi River to the east.

As of the 2020 census, there were 15,310 people, 5,000 households, and 3,500 families residing in the parish. The population density was 38 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the parish was 60% White, 35% African American, and 5% from other races.

West Feliciana Parish is governed by a parish council and a parish president. The parish is part of Louisiana's 6th congressional district.

The parish is served by the West Feliciana Parish School Board, which operates several schools, including West Feliciana High School.
