West Hollywood is a city located in Los Angeles County, California, United States. It was incorporated on November 29, 1984, and is home to the Sunset Strip.

West Hollywood was originally part of the Rancho La Brea land grant in 1783. In the 1920s, it became known as a haven for artists and writers. The city was incorporated in 1984, largely due to the efforts of its residents to control rent and maintain the unique character of the community.
