- Whiting is a city located in the U.S. state of Indiana, specifically in Lake County. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area, and is approximately 16 miles from the Chicago Loop. The city is situated on the southern shore of Lake Michigan, and is known for its scenic lakefront and small-town charm.
- Whiting covers an area of 3.23 square miles, and according to the United States Census Bureau, it had a population of 4,997 as of the 2010 census. The city is home to Whiting Refinery, the largest oil refinery in the Midwest.
