Woody Allen (born Allan Stewart Konigsberg; December 1, 1935) is an American film director, screenwriter, actor, and comedian. He is known for his work in the comedy genre, often blending elements of romantic comedy, drama, and satire. Allen has received numerous accolades, including four Academy Awards and nine British Academy Film Awards.

Woody Allen was born in Brooklyn, New York City, to Nettie (née Cherrie) and Martin Konigsberg. He grew up in the Midwood neighborhood and attended Midwood High School. Allen developed an early interest in magic and jazz, which would later influence his work.
