WrestleMania
WrestleMania is an annual professional wrestling pay-per-view event, produced every March or April by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), formerly known as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). It is considered the flagship event of WWE, as well as the most successful and longest-running professional wrestling event in the world. WrestleMania was conceptualized by WWE owner Vince McMahon and has since grown to become an international phenomenon.
History[edit | edit source]
The inaugural WrestleMania took place on March 31, 1985, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. It was a risky venture for McMahon, who financed the event himself, hoping to break into mainstream entertainment. The event was a success, featuring celebrities alongside professional wrestlers, which became a staple for future WrestleManias. WrestleMania III, held at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1987, is particularly notable for its attendance record of 93,173, a record that stood for decades.

WrestleMania is known for its elaborate entrances, high-profile matches, and the presence of celebrities. It has hosted some of the most memorable matches in professional wrestling history and has been a pivotal event in the careers of many wrestlers. The event is also characterized by its long duration, often extending to over five hours in recent years.
Cultural Impact[edit | edit source]
WrestleMania has had a significant impact on the professional wrestling industry and popular culture. It has helped elevate professional wrestling to a global entertainment phenomenon and has contributed to the mainstream popularity of many wrestlers. The event is also a major revenue generator for WWE, drawing large audiences both in-person and via pay-per-view.
