Wuhan (Chinese: 武汉; pinyin: Wǔhàn ) is the capital of Hubei province in China and is the most populous city in Central China. It lies at the confluence of the Yangtze River and its largest tributary, the Han River.

Wuhan has a rich history that dates back over 3,500 years. It was originally three separate cities: Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang, which were merged in 1927 to form Wuhan. The city played a significant role in the Wuchang Uprising of 1911, which led to the downfall of the Qing Dynasty and the establishment of the Republic of China.

Wuhan is located in the eastern part of the Jianghan Plain, at the intersection of the middle reaches of the Yangtze and Han rivers. The city is known for its numerous lakes and parks, including the famous East Lake, which is the largest urban lake in China.
