Yamazaki Distillery[edit | edit source]

The Yamazaki Distillery is a renowned Japanese whisky distillery located in Shimamoto, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. It is owned by Suntory, one of the oldest companies in the distribution of alcoholic beverages in Japan. The distillery is situated in the Vale of Yamazaki, a region known for its excellent water quality.

The Yamazaki Distillery was established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory. Torii was inspired by traditional Scottish whisky making techniques and aimed to create a perfect whisky that would suit the delicate palate of the Japanese. The distillery is considered the birthplace of Japanese whisky.

The distillery produces a range of single malt whiskies. The process involves malting, mashing, fermentation, distillation, maturation, and bottling. The distillery uses a variety of cask types, including American white oak, Spanish oak, and Japanese oak, which contribute to the unique flavors of Yamazaki whisky.

The distillery's core products include the Yamazaki Single Malt 12 Years Old, Yamazaki Single Malt 18 Years Old, and Yamazaki Single Malt 25 Years Old. Each of these whiskies has won numerous awards at international spirits competitions.
